My love affair with furniture.

I love furniture.  And even more, I love transforming furniture to my taste and style.

I found this lovely chest of drawers on Craigslist Saturday and the second he emailed me back with "Come on over",  I dragged my sweet husband out the door and we skedaddled to pick this beauty up.

Here is the before photo:

I wanted to paint it, but wasn't sure what color. I debating on doing a trendy color such as a soft yellow (the walls in our bedroom are gray and everyone knows the hot color combo is grey and yellow!)  but ultimately decided to go traditional so that I could always use this piece whever we live in the future.

I found a  whole gallon of mis-tint at Home Depot for $5 buckaroos and it was the perfect Antique White (in fact, that was the name of the color!)

Sanded her down, applied a coat of primer, and did two coats of Antique White.

Here's the result:

(Of course, the day I wanted to take some great photos, it's rainy and cloudy...my apologies for the grainy photos)

I am in love.

The soft white and creamy grey make me smile.

Wanna know the best part?

Don't mind the pile of dirty laundry in the corner. hehe! ;)

Now, off to find another Craigslist makeover!

Linking up here and here and here.

  1. That is absolutely beautiful!!!! It looks like an antique, those are Hepplewhite drawer pulls. I am a craigslist fanatic, in fact most of my house is craigslist makeovers (my $25 buffet being the most recent). Thank you for sharing, I only wish I could find a dresser that looked like that.

  2. Kait! This is so beautiful. You are so talented!! You better be careful or people are going to start commissioning you to do projects for them! I've always loved the coffee table you re-did and have half a mind to ask you to do one for us!! (We STILL don't have a coffee table!) This is gorgeous!

  3. You did a great job! I love the pop of color in the drawers and how you accessorized the top. Beautiful!

I would love it if you would link up at Watch Out, Martha!’s first link up party: Martha Mondays on May 7th! Hope to see you there! (www.watchoutmartha.net )

  4. Your dresser is really pretty! And the blue is such a fun surprise!

  5. Good choice not to go trendy and stay true to yourself ...

Love the pop of blue inside each drawer ... and on the outside so we can get a peek of the fun inside!

  6. super cute. I love the blue on the inside of the drawers. There is still time to link up to last weeks Furniture Friday @ Decorating Insanity http://www.decoratinginsanity.com/2012/04/furniture-friday-13-and-features.html

  7. It's appropriate time to make some plans for the future and it is time to be happy. I've read this post and if I could I desire
to suggest you some interesting things or suggestions. Perhaps you could write
next articles referring to this article. I wish to read more things about it!
